I’m starting to see my instagram feed change, it's terrifying and exciting at the same time. I’m terrified of negative responses yet excited for what’s to come. I think the main reason for the latter is cause it’s been awhile since I’ve applied design to personal projects. It’s like a flipping a switch in my mind.

Here’s the way I see it:
Art is self-expression, I feel x therefore y so I made z. It’s emotional.
Design has a purpose, the goal is x therefore the solution could be y to obtain z. It’s tactical.

That being said, both are powerful skills to have in the digital age which is why I’ve been very careful about the way I use it. In fact, I’ve been too careful and that’s also a danger. So, I’ve come up with a few things to try as tactical ways of self-expression while I build an audience around my interests. Of which, I have many, and one I’m choosing to focus on is gym culture/fitness. It’s something that’s kept me going through the years and a subject I hope to contribute to with my skillset. I want to keep it lighthearted but impactful, while I throw things on the wall and see what sticks lol.

Writing this is reminding me of a quote by the infamous Andrew Tate. It went something like: “Muscular people didn’t just accidentally get muscular. Like whoops, look at my abs, I had no idea what I was doing.” And sure, maybe that does happen once in awhile but, “No, they had a plan, and they made changes along the way until their plan worked.” I think it’s shockingly similar to what I’m facing as a content creator right now: I had no goal, so I had no results but I did have fun. Now, I do have a goal (building an audience), I’m working towards results and I intend to keep having fun.

There will likely be a lot of trial and error the coming months, but hey, I hope you enjoy the show.
