immersify kl, digital art journey

Discount Team Labs
Recently, my friends and I went to Immersify KL. It's a multi-dimensional digital art journey in BBCC, and from what I've heard: Team Lab's more chill and less performative cousin.
I've never been to Team Lab, so my expectations were measured but I was not disappointed. The ticket is for a single entry, but you're allowed to spend as much time in there until you leave.
Here are three of my favourite things about the exhibition.

Interactive walls and floors
There were multiple rooms like this, most of them utilised giant screens across walls visualising pixelated rainforests, digital waterfalls and endless loops of geometric patterns. My favourite space had motion tracking which created the illusion that koi fishes were swimming beneath your footsteps.
I was the King of Koi here.

Lanterns and Colours
This room reminded me of that scene in Everything, Everywhere, All at Once. You know, where Waymond speaks sense to Evelyn and the rotating light show on their faces go crazy. It's crazy what a few flashing lanterns can do in the dark. One moment, you're in an immersive space with your friends, the next you're surrounded by nostalgic moments you've shared over the years.
The concept is stupid simple. And yet, in that moment, every colour signified a different era, a key moment or an alternate timeline that led us where we were and it was a beautiful experience.

Crayon Therapy
Here's the concept: you, a piece of paper and mountains of crayons. The mission? Colour, draw and scribble your way through as you watch it digitise on screen. For those reasons, these rooms were undoubtedly the most exciting part of the experience to me.
Through my third eye, I watch my worries melt as my hands danced across the paper to the rhythm of my colourful confidence. In that moment, I wasn't pressured to create a masterpiece, I was just a kid having fun, laughing beside my friends.
10/10. I wish we stayed longer.

So, what's the verdict?
Would I go again? Absolutely – just not in the next 3 months and ideally under the similar circumstances. Apart from us, there was barely anyone in sight and our laughter echoed between walls.
I highly recommend visiting with friends, especially if they lean creative. Otherwise, you could spend an entire afternoon in here to do some soul-searching too.
