This passion project was an attempt to commemorate my upbringing through anime. Ideally, it will also be seen as an effort at building a meaningful relationship with the anime community. I've reimagined some iconic scenes in the form of timeless pixel art. It stars some of my personal favourite anime scenes and characters from One Punch Man, One Piece and more recently, Apothecary Diaries.

This series is the fusion of my obsession with rogue indie games and anime. The One Punch Man piece is what kicked the whole series off, and a few mini games came out of this series using the same pixelated characters. I even printed some artwork across a range of sizes.

CHALLENGE
The Challenge
Getting every character proportionate to their original designs was a constant discipline check, on top of holding myself accountable to deadlines for a passion project with no external pressure. Layering the dithering technique convincingly across multiple levels added another layer of difficulty, literally.
STRATEGIES
& Solutions
I built a self-made template to standardise pixel sizing across the whole series, then worked through a running list of characters to draw daily rather than picking at random. I used third-party brushes for dithering, which saved precious time and raised the finish quality too.
