KLoé Hotel is boutique hotel situated in the centre of KL, Malaysia, for creative nomads. I worked with the team at Skunkworks Communications, where I spearheaded web design with a team. I also art directed a humble photography session of the hotel rooms on-site. All forms of media were captured by the production team.

Leading a small team of front-end developers, I planned the site's structure, layout and delivery timeline, on top of art directing the mood of the rooms — that was my favourite part.

CHALLENGE
Obstacles
Our brief was to migrate the site from WordPress to Squarespace while keeping the booking system hosted externally. It was a technical constraint on top of the creative problem. However, the tough part was aligning the creative direction and the client's desires by relaying both clearly to my team without either side feeling overridden.
STRATEGIES
& Solutions
I restructured the site in phases, and divided the main sections between the team to increase ownership and efficiency. Before touching layout, we researched a spread of boutique hotels to find how they were winning and where they were falling short. For KLoé specifically, the gap was a website that needed to feel revived and visually organised.
